ADVANTAGES OF PHOTO ID CARDS 12/29/2010
Photo ID cards are very popular nowadays and more and more business organizations are adopting them as another security item to enforce their security. At the beginning photo ID cards were quite primitive: they mainly consisted of a card with some written words on it describing what you did for the company and a bad-taken picture of you, usually blurry or out of focus. Now, technology has made it quite easy to take excellent pictures and add them to ID cards. So much so, that these kind of tags can be found everywhere. Perhaps, the most popular and known of these tags are driver licenses. They have relevant personal information and a picture of you is added digitally to it.. There are also student ID cards, transport passes, payment cards and even loyalty cards that include a picture of the user not only for security reasons but also to add a feeling of customization to the card. Although everything indicates that soon there will be different ways to identify people such as biometric identification processes that will make photographs almost unnecessary, companies are still relying on photo ID cards to identify their employees, record their attendance and whereabouts, ensure access to certain restricted areas. Even more, they either rely on third parties to provide them the ID tags they need or they produce the photo ID cards themselves. In fact, many companies have recently realized how important it is to produce their own photo ID cards as it has plenty of advantages. To begin with, costs are significantly reduced as ID card printers are not that expensive and they can easily be afforded as you use them. Besides, plastic cards where to print the tags, id card holders and other accessories are not expensive either; at least, they can be quite easily afforded by most business organizations. In addition, companies can have full control of their ID cards and know exactly how many cards are printed, for which employees, who is responsible for printing them and which security devices are added to the card.
